Dark Romantic

1.Nathaniel Hawthorne's didn’t believed in transcendentalism because they believed that people's thoughts and intuition were the voice of God. Nathaniel didn’t believed that because his great grandfather was one of the judges in the Salem witchcraft trials during Puritan times that put nineteen people and two dogs to hanged, and one man was crushed to death by stones all in the name of God. So he thought of his great grandfather a minister and a judge who sentenced people to cruel deaths because other people accused them of being evil.
Herman Melville didn’t believe in transcendentalism, because they believed that everyone was absolutely pure and that each individual is a part of God. Melville didn’t that because he witnessed many things he would not have seen at his home in New York. One sight that reportedly effected him severely were the cannibals he saw in the South Pacific and thought to him self would a man who witnessed people eating human flesh agree that everyone was good and pure.
Edgar Allen Poe got terrible addictions to opium and alcohol. He was getting probably insane. They saw that people could be evil, insane, unpure, or generally not 100% good like the Transcendentalists thought. Unlike the Transcendentalists, they believed in original sin, and that it was responsible for the evil that existed inside of everyone.

2. I would go with dark romantic because like they say not all that speak with their mind is the voice of gods it is the action one is taking for themselves. Like Nathaniel great grand father hanged people because the public would say they are evil. Melville who witness cannibals eating other people. And Poe who went insane.

4. In the beginning Poe has a favorite cat named Pluto and he’s play with the cat all the time but them later when started to drink heavily the cat started to be afraid to get near Poe. One day when Poe was all drunk and wanted to grab it. When he grabs the cat, the cat bites Poe and Poe gets angry and cuts one of its eyes. Next day he hangs his cat because he knew the cat loved him and he had cut out his eye. One while he is asleep his house burns down, but Poe and the rest managed to get out before it burned down.
After it burn down he sees that the only thing standing was a wall that had a cat draw in it and when he was drunk late at night he found a cat just like his, but his cat didn’t have white fur that look like the hang man hook. He took the cat home because it reminded him of his cat Pluto. Poe started at first to like the cat but then he ended hating the cat because the cat would be always around Poe’s wife. One day the cat made poe trip and poe got and grabbed an axe try to kill it but his wife interfered. Poe got angry when his wife interfered and hit her in the head with the axe and he walled her up with bricks.
The story is a good because it shows how dark romanticism is different from Transcendentalism. Like the part were Poe is drunk and the cat bites him he cuts out one of the cats eyes out, that is dark romantic. In transcendentalism They believed that the individual human mind was one of the most powerful instruments in the world, and that the individual mind was connected to all others through what was known as the "oversoul", a collection of everyone's soul that we all share.

Poe when he is writing the poem he writing when someone knocking on the door and he goes and opens up the door but know one is there. Second time he opens the door he gets spooked because a raven appears before his eyes and the raven represents his sadness. All poe really wants is to have a happy life and leave the past in the past. The Dark Romantics believed that everyone has a little bit of evil or insanity in them and The Transcendentalists thought everyone was good and pure.

Poe was a lonely and depressed from all the death that he has seen throughout his life. Everyone he cared for didn’t care about him and the people who did care about him ended up dying. Like all his wives ended up dying, so it looks like he had a bad luck history. His poem was hard to understand but what said in it was good poem. Allen Poe was sad and depressed man if he could have one of his still alive and not die like the rest he would not be as bad depressed as is now.

Transcendentalism

In the nature Emerson talks how he sees nature and gets lost in that place that he blends in and I think that is good because people could use that so they won't get nerves in a presentation in front of people. They could blend in with the crowd so they won't get nerves.
The nature is a Transcendentalism because Emerson think that being connected to nature and you could transparent yourself to it then your also connected to god.

In the self-reliance I like the way he talks about how you should be individual, speak what you feel is being connected to god because your speaking what god is saying to you and not the voices of the people around you.

Self-reliance is a good transcendentalism because in the story it talks how one should speak what he has in mind is what god is saying to you in your mind and not the crowd around you, and to be brave to speak what you think and not be a coward and not say nothing.
In resistance to civil government Thoreau refuse to pay taxes because he thought that the tax money would go for Mexican war and was sent to jail for refusing. After all, the practical reason why, when the power is once in the hands of the people, a majority are permitted, and for a long period continue, to rule, is not because this seems fairest to be in the minority, but because they are physically the strongest. They believed that the individual human mind was one of the most powerful instruments in the world, and that the individual mind was connected to all others through what was known as thoverkillul, a collection of everyone's soul that we all share.

2. Chris, a college senior, has just been accepted to the best law school in the country. His parents, Sheila, his wife, and his brothers and sisters are very excited for Chris since he has wanted to become a lawyer for his entire life. Chris isn't so excited though. He has realized that he would rather be a high school teacher than be a lawyer. Chris would have to go back to school to get his teaching certificateChrisrs' wife is not exactly thrilled with this idea since she has been looking forward to the salary Chris would make as a lawyer. With Chris' new plan, she would have to pay for Chris' additional schooling. This is an example of transcendentalism, because he speaking what is in his mind and that is being a teacher. They believed that the individual human mind was one of the most powerful instruments in the world
